STEM Family

stem-word is a core family of the Association of Professional Vietnamese in Singapore (Vietnam2020). STEM creates an avenue for passionate and talented individuals from different background, especially in Science, Technology, and Environment to gather for a common goal: exchanging ideas and learning from each other.

Since establishment in 2007, STEM has gathered more than 140 members, who are experts working in various fields such as renewable energy, information security, IT, mathematics, bio-technology, etc. in prestigious organizations like Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), or in MNCs like Gemalto, IBM, Renewable Energy Corporation, etc.

STEM has organized many meaningful and successful projects: Books4VN (collecting 1.5 million books from overseas to distribute to libraries across Vietnam), STEMBuddy (matching a STEM member with a final year student for career advice), TEDxSTEM (TED-format talks for worth sharing ideas among STEM members). Besides, STEM occasionally invites speakers to speak to the community about contemporary issues such as renewable energy, social enterprise, preservation of Mekong river, etc.

Looking forward in 2015, STEM continues to organize talks and networking events in science and technology fields among the members. We are also expanding our members to include engineering and science students from local universities to join and learn from each other.

Our core values are STEMID:

  • Straightforward,
  • Technopreneurship-driven,
  • Enspirited,
  • Measureable,
  • Integrity-minded, and
  • Daring.
