Post-event update:

Due to popularity of assessment center format used in recruitment process of many eminent firms in recent years, we organized a workshop on 25th October  to help Vietnamese students have a better preparation in their job application.  It was our great pleasure to have Mr. Steven Chong, an experienced career consultant & trainer in SMU, to facilitate the hands-on workshop for over 20 students from different institutions in Singapore, including NUS, NTU, SMU and Kaplan.

Mr. Chong spent a third of the session to introduce the job hunting process and the normal structure of an assessment center. With the interactive training style, he enlightened the students on early job search and preparation which can start even a few years prior to the actual application. Participants were also provided with a clear idea of which skills and experience that recruiters will look for in an applicant’s CV.

The participants were then separated into 4 groups with each consisting of 6 to 7 students with diverse backgrounds to practice group discussion with different topics. When each group was discussing, three remaining groups were asked to observe the discussion carefully and provide comments and suggestions for improvement after the discussion ended. After each discussion, Mr. Chong summarized all comments and suggestions into lessons, which helped the subsequent groups to learn and practice.

Thanks everyone for making it to the workshop yesterday. We had so much fun learning together! Also, special thanks to our wonderful trainer Mr. Steven Chong, and to Polaris Workshop Team for organizing such a great event. Feel free to tag yourselves and your friends in these photos.
